Welcome to the #GRWA Crew, Miranda!

Hello, I'm Miranda! My passion for conservation began at a young age while helping steward one of Illinois' last remaining white cedar fens in Elgin. That early experience inspired me to earn a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Northeastern Illinois University, where I specialized in Environmental Policy & Management and Environmental Interpretation & Education. Along the way, I've volunteered with a variety of environmental organizations and gained professional experience in social services, hospitality, and conservation, all of which have strengthened my commitment to protecting natural resources.

I'm excited to join the team at Gary R. Weber Associates as a Natural Resources Associate, where I can turn my passion for the environment into meaningful, hands-on work. I'm especially looking forward to learning from the ECO-Team, exploring the field, and maybe even adding a few unique stones or bones to our growing windowsill collection!

Outside of work, my go-to coffee order is an iced matcha with lavender—or an affogato if I'm craving something sweet. If I had a theme song, it would be the chanting chorus from "Thula Klizeo" by Ladysmith Black Mambazo because it reminds me of the connection between travel, community, and feeling at home wherever I am.
